CYROPRESERVATION

What is Cryopreservation ?

Cryopreservation is a fertility treatment option that involves freezing and storing eggs, sperm, or embryos for future use. It is often recommended for individuals and couples who want to preserve their fertility for personal or medical reasons. At Pacific IVF Center Nepal, we offer advanced cryopreservation services to help individuals and couples preserve their fertility and achieve their family-building goals. Cryopreservation is a multi-step process that begins with the collection and preparation of the eggs, sperm, or embryos for freezing. Eggs, sperm, and embryos are all sensitive to temperature changes, so it is important to handle them carefully to ensure their viability. Once the eggs, sperm, or embryos have been collected and prepared, they are placed in a cryoprotectant solution and slowly cooled to a temperature of -196°C. This process, known as vitrification, helps to prevent the formation of ice crystals that can damage the cells during the freezing process. The eggs, sperm, or embryos are then stored in liquid nitrogen tanks at a temperature of -196°C until they are needed for future use. When the time comes to use the frozen eggs, sperm, or embryos, they are thawed and prepared for fertilization or transfer.

Cryopreservation is often recommended for individuals or couples who:

  • Want to preserve their fertility for personal or medical reasons: Cryopreservation can be used to preserve fertility in individuals who are facing medical treatments that may affect their fertility, such as chemotherapy or radiation therapy. It can also be used by individuals who are not ready to start a family but want to preserve their fertility for future use.
  • Have a surplus of eggs, sperm, or embryos: If an individual or couple has undergone fertility treatment and has a surplus of eggs, sperm, or embryos, cryopreservation can be used to store them for future use.
  • Are at risk of infertility due to age: As a woman gets older, the quality of her eggs tends to decline, making it more difficult to get pregnant. Cryopreservation can be used to preserve eggs at a younger age, when they are of higher quality, for future use.

Cryopreservation is a highly effective fertility treatment, with success rates that depend on a variety of factors, including the quality of the eggs, sperm, or embryos at the time of freezing and the method of cryopreservation used.

At Pacific IVF Center Nepal, we are committed to providing the highest quality care and support to help you achieve your family-building goals.
